What Will Smith Probably Does Not Know What We Know, About San Joaquin County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Bennet Omalu.
We have had a great injustice take place within our county sheriff department on behalf of the sheriff themselves, and this man, Dr. Bennet Omalu. In 2008, after an alleged high speed pursuit on east interstate 5, Daniel Lee Humphreys crashed the motorcycle he was riding into a jeep. Officers report Daniel's speed to have been upwards of 100 miles per hour. According to the Stockton Record when Daniel crashed into a jeep on the freeway, his speed was great enough to overturn the jeep. Police claim that Daniel, who must have been thrown from his bike, got up and began running from the scene. They say that he stopped at the center divide of the freeway. In initial reports, the CHP never mentioned anything to the press about the use of their Taser guns. Daniel's body, like others who have died at the hands of police in our county, was turned over to the San Joaquin County Sheriff Coroners office. It was there that Dr. Bennet Omalu, a brain/head trauma specialist (also employed by UC Davis medical Center, declared on the official Death certificate of Mr. Humphreys that "mild trauma to the brain" was the cause of death. The sheriffs closed the Humphreys case and went about their daily lives as though nothing else had happened. From what we understand, one who is operating as a coroner, cannot determine the cause of death (at least where police are involved) until they have been given the opportunity to review the official reports of the officers involved. Probably to rule out any other possible causes of death. Omalu was put on the hot seat earlier this year when then candidate for District Attorney, Tori Verber Salazar, called him up and asked him if he had ever seen such reports prior to determining a cause of death in Mr. Humphreys case. According to Omalu he had not seen them. But being a head trauma specialist, and coroner, Omalu is just as guilty as the officers involved. Omalu knew the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the position in which he was entrusted to when he took the job. If you read the Stockton Records article, it sounds like no body wants to take the blame for what looks more like a cover up, than a few honest mistakes. I mean it is a bit strange that no taser was ever mentioned in the original release of this story to the public, and that the original death certificate was missing this information following Omalu's autopsy. The officer who is responsible for taking Daniel's life works for the California Highway Patrol. Within 7 minutes of taser deployment, Officer Roberto Iniguez had successfully taken the life of Daniel Lee Humphreys. Iniguez tased him 32 times. Now remember, the coroner is a brain specialist. He obviously saw something wrong in order to think he could get away with writing this up as a mild traumatic brain injury. Now we are not doctors, but it is probably safe to say that if a motorcycle was traveling fast enough to overturn a jeep, the person riding on that machine was likely hurt pretty bad. Too bad to have been running and too bad to have been a threat to officer safety, seeing as he was not in possession of any weapons. Omalu claims that he was not given access to the reports, and that HE WAS TOLD what was or was not a factor in the death of Daniel Lee Humphreys. UMmmmmm ............ you don't become a brain specialist, let alone get a great job working at UC Davis medical center, by being dumb. Omalu is not a stupid man by any means. He knew that he was doing something wrong when he went along with San Joaquin County Sheriff Detective Brian Barnes. He knew then that something was wrong, but did nothing to bring light to this obvious cover up by the San Joaquin County Sheriff and District Attorneys office. He said not a word for SIX YEARS!!!!!!!! Detective Brian Barnes, James P. Willett, and Doctor Bennet Omalu should be in prison for conspiracy to cover up an officer involved homicide, and using their trusted positions of power to do so. This story is sickening. Can we not safely assume that this may not be the first time that Dr. Bennet Omalu has remained silent while officers conspired to cover for their brothers in blue? Willett, Barnes, Iniguez, and Omalu ALL need to have federal indictments brought against them. This could have been any one of us, and who knows, as long as Omalu is still putting his grubby little fingers on the bodies of our family and friends, still could be. Lets just hope that when 'WIMP WILLETT' Finally leaves the district attorneys office, Tori Verber Salazar will be able to finish what she started, and file charges against these killer cops and this quack.
